argument about front grills

i have a 1967 a35 van...my mate has a 1959 saloon..he says iv got the wrong front grill on as its painted not chrome...he says to have it stripped and have it chromed...as a35s are in chrome and a30s are painted...so iv a a30 grill on mine????but saying that his a 35 is all so painted as his had a chrome one on..but i think the chrome ones was on a30s or was it just preferance,chrome or painted but on ebay most of a a30s grills sold are chrome
