Carburettor problems

Hi all,

I was wondering if any of you fellow Austin fans could lend a hand.

This evening, I decided to try and set the idling speed a bit lower on my Austin a30.

I took a screw driver and adjusted both choke/fast idle screw and the throttle stop screw on the SU carburettor.

As I turned the throttle stop screw anticlockwise, the engine idled much lower. I moved it back to its' original setting but now the engine's 'chugging' for want of a better word...spluttering in a rhythmical way; especially when accellerating and the whole engine seems to vibrate - so much so it shakes the gearstick side to side!

I can't seem to get it back to how it was now...complete novice here...made a total ass of himself, can anyone help?
