fuel pumps

hi all i have a austin a35 van on a 67 plate,on going out one day it came to a halt,on priming the mechanical pump it started and got me home, the next day i stripped, the su carb, then the fuel pump, only to find the inside body heavely pitted, since that day i can not find a replacement pump,as the fuel pipe is made of steel and nuts, screw into the body of the pump, not via rubber/clips,iv been told to fit a su pump, electric, but since cleaning it out its been fine, but i know its had it..is it better to change to electric,or keep looking, for a replacement.do you know if some one sells mechanical pumps,or just change to electric....any ideas
